The 5-Green Juice Detox

5 Juice Detox

I want to share this fabulous juice detox drink that a friend recommend. She drank this a few years back for 2 weeks to lower cholesterol. It also helps to lower blood pressure. You can have it everyday if you have health issues or just once a week to detox.

5 Green Veg

1/4 cucumber, 1/4 bitter melon, 1 green apple, 1/2 green pepper, 2 celery stalks
1. Wash all ingredients
2. Seeded green apple, bitter melon, green pepper
3. Put all ingredients into a juicer
4. Do not add water
Taste relatively sweet (green apple and cucumber neutralizes the bitterness of bitter melon)
Exceptionally good at preventing high blood pressure, cholesterol disorders and constipation.
5 juice drink 1. Not suitable for female during monthly periods
2. Filter the pulp if you wish
3. Drink within 10 minutes after juicing
4. Best effect on empty stomach, recommended drinking first thing in the morning
5. Try to have it at least once a week.
6. Recommended to DIY at home, so your family members can enjoy this delicious & healthy drink together.

    So, its not good to make a batch and save for the week?

      It is better to make it fresh each time even though it would be more convenient to make a batch. This is because not only does cut fruits and vegetables start to loss their nutritional value once cut and exposed to oxygen, freshly squeezed juice can quickly develop harmful bacteria. Try and keep some of the pulp when you juice as well, as this will help maintain healthy fiber.

    Why isn’t suitable for female.during monthly period?

      In Chinese medicine, foods and how they are cooked are divided into categories. These are mainly ‘Yik Hee (熱氣)’ or ‘Lerng (涼)’, which you become more of if you eat that type of food (your body base may be naturally more basis towards one or the other already). Without diving too deep into the subject, Chinese medicine is about achieving balance which enables wellness. When you are menstruating, you body temperature naturally starts to drop. Foods that are ‘Lerng (涼)’ tend to also drop your body temperature. The vegetables in this drink are ‘Lerng (涼)’ and some very ‘Lerng’, called ‘Hong Lerng (寒涼)’. If ‘Lerng (涼)’ was spring, ‘Hong Lerng (寒涼)’ would be like winter. If your body temperature drops to much, the blood needed to be discharge may congeal. Thus making it more difficult for you to cleanly discharged everything. Hope that helps.

    Hi Ying. My mom and I have been drinking this for some time now. I have some concerns that I want to clarify:
    1. Is this drink suitable for women with low blood pressure? I know that celery lowers it, so there are times when I just include the 4 greens. Does the detoxifying effect lessen?
    2. I am more of a 涼 body type, so how often is it advisable for me to have this drink?

      Hi Carmen, I believe in balance and actually all the vegetables are 涼 and 寒涼, and lower blood pressure, so I wouldn’t advise drinking too much of it. I did ask my Chinese Doctor friend and he advises not to. Although the friend who recommended it to me has a 涼 base, and she drinks it for a couple of weeks every time she feels run down and originally drank it because she had high cholesterol. However, if you have concerns, you should and please consult your doctor, as everyone has different individual attributes which may determine if this is good for you. I am not a doctor, so I’m sorry but my answers can only be general.

      You don’t really taste it much once its all mixed up or you can just leave it out, the others are still good for you.

    Hi Ying,
    A medical professional friend recommended the 5 Greens to us. Both my wife and me have high blood. We were feeling sick, tired easily and we wake up feeling body aching all over. Amazingly after drinking this 5 Green juice for several days. All the symptoms disappeared completely. For a week we have been monitoring our blood pressure. It was at 120 / 80. We feel very energetic and mentally alert compare to before. And amazing we also lost a few kilos. Thank God.
